First Dental Visit

A first dental visit is a chance to get to know your child, check early oral development and help you care for their teeth at home. Strive Dental Studio’s general dentists welcome children and adapt the visit to their age, comfort and needs. We will ask about medical history, feeding, brushing and any concerns you have noticed. X-rays are recommended only when the clinical information they provide is needed; they are not automatic at every first visit.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a first visit by the first birthday or within six months of the first tooth appearing. If your child is older and has not yet had a visit, you can still arrange an appointment and begin ongoing care.

Your dentist checks the teeth, gums and development as your child’s age and cooperation allow. We discuss home care, diet and cavity prevention with you. Cleaning, fluoride or imaging may be recommended based on the findings rather than as an identical package for every child.

Use calm, simple words, bring the medical and medicine history, and tell us about sensory needs or previous difficult experiences. Choose an appointment time that works with your child’s routine when possible. Let the team introduce instruments and explain the visit in child-friendly steps.

Bring your questions, too

Useful topics include brushing technique, fluoride toothpaste, thumb or pacifier habits, teething and snacks or drinks. If another office has taken X-rays or provided treatment, ask how to arrange transfer of those records. Tell us about pain, swelling, injury or trouble eating when scheduling so we can help identify the appropriate appointment.

Comfort and the next visit

Our team can discuss the comfort amenities available and ways to make the visit manageable. Bingley’s presence is optional and depends on availability; tell us about allergies or preferences. At the end of the appointment, your dentist explains any findings and recommends a follow-up interval based on your child’s needs. If specialist expertise is appropriate, we will discuss a referral.
